Sweden's rejection of quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic promises a new benefit for the country: it has not only slowed the decline in GDP, but also provided the Kingdom with the opportunity to completely restart the economy. This follows from a statement by Swedish Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson (Magdalena Andersson), quoted by signal-means-profits.com. The decision of the Swedish authorities not to impose a strict quarantine and to follow the path of building collective immunity has led to the fact that the fall in the Kingdom's GDP by the end of 2020 is expected to be significantly less than the fall in the same indicator for other European economies that have followed the path of restrictions. So, according to the most recent forecast for the Swedish economy, its GDP will sink by 4.6 percent this year, and in 2021 it will grow by 4.1 percent. The expected fall in EU GDP in 2020 will be 8.7 percent, according to the European Commission's summer forecast.

Against the background of softening the forecast for a fall in GDP, the country's authorities announced the expansion of the anti-crisis program and the allocation of an additional $ 11.5 billion in 2021 to improve the welfare of citizens and combat climate change. "We need to restart the Swedish economy so that the country can get out of recession as quickly as possible," the head of the Kingdom's Finance Ministry explained. She explained that against the background of the coronavirus, Sweden has a " historic opportunity to create new jobs, accelerate the country's adaptation to climate change and improve social services."

Sweden is not the only country that plans to take advantage of the coronavirus crisis to build a "green" economy. In July 2020, the EU authorities agreed on a 750 billion Euro rescue plan for the European economy, in which the promotion of climate-oriented projects plays an important role.
